Dr Imraan Tayob

Psychiatrist

Dr Imraan Tayob initially completed a commerce degree at the University of Cape Town. After a stint working in brand marketing in London, he returned to South Africa to study Medicine at the Nelson Mandela School of Medicine at the University of KwaZulu Natal. On completion of his medical internship and community service at Victoria Hospital in Cape Town, and Prince Mshiyeni Memorial Hospital in Durban respectively, he trained as a Specialist Psychiatrist between Groote Schuur and Valkenberg Hospitals. Currently he is in a joint appointment as head of psychiatric department at a district hospital in Cape Town, and an academic post in the department of psychiatry at the University of Cape town. He sits on the university Registrar Training Committee, and is involved in teaching and training of trainee Psychiatrists. He is a committee member of the South African Society of Psychiatrists (SASOP)Western Cape Subgroub as well as the SASOP Early Career Psychiatrists committee. He has a an interest in General Adult Psychiatry and Addiction Psychiatry, in which he practices in private practice on a part time basis.
